Void Magazine is an nationally distributed design magazine that has been created in a simple, clean style to discuss a large range of creative forms. It is designed with specific attention to space, reflecting minimalistic characteristics, allowing the magazine to be easily read by all. Issue 1 of Void Magazine is typography focused, with this idea reflected in design of the spreads and imagery for each of the articles. For a hint into the content of the magazine, the cover was created with these concepts in mind, using the laser cut lines to establish the letterforms, generating a empty void. Attempting to explore the hidden spaces and ideas behind type, the issue concentrates on using a visual approach that reflects the concepts behind the articles “White Space” by Ellen Lupton and“Typeface and Typography” by Kenya Hara.
