SIDELINE 'ADVICE'

Researching into how parents play a role in youth sports led to the understanding of ‘sideline advice’ (advice given from the parents to the youths from the sideline of sporting games). A card sorting activity was used to gain data into how youths and parents feel about certain ‘sideline advice’ that is given.

To showcase this, a shade of red was chosen for each of the negative feelings and a shade of blue for each of the positive feelings and the emotions were mapped for each quote, categorised into youths and parents. One side of the cards indicated the responses in a visual form. On the other side, the list of feelings are displayed. By collecting all the information together for each quote, it was obvious which feelings stood out within the parents and the youths. With larger amounts of red, the quote impacted majority negatively and vis versa.
